Newcastle City Council has awarded a contract to Families in Care to provide independent advocacy support for parents involved in child protection and court cases.
The service will be delivered across the Newcastle City Council boundary and is intended to provide consistent and reliable support for parents through child protection processes and court proceedings.
The Council stated that the service is to be delivered within an annual budget of £119,549.
The contract has a value of £358,647 and is expected to run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2028, with the option to extend by two periods of six months, potentially taking the contract through to 30 September 2029.
The contract was awarded through a below threshold procurement without competition under the Light Touch Regime.
The award decision was made on 24 July 2026, with the earliest contract signature date set for 1 September 2026.
