London
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has awarded Centre 404 a contract worth £616,817 excluding VAT (£740,180.40 including VAT) to provide overnight and related short breaks respite services for children and young people with disabilities.
The contract covers Lot 1 of the CS6028 Overnight and Related Short Breaks Respite provision, supporting children and young people with autism spectrum condition (ASC) alongside severe learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour. The services aim to help young people enjoy activities, develop independence and build friendships, while providing parents and carers with respite from their caring responsibilities.
The contract is expected to run from 2 November 2026 to 31 October 2027. The earliest date for signing is 20 October 2026.
The council is making a time-limited direct award after a competitive procurement failed to produce a suitable tender capable of delivering the required service while enabling the authority to meet its Best Value Duty. The arrangement will allow the council to review and re-procure longer-term provision.
