University of Portsmouth Awards Sports Physiotherapy Services Contract

The University of Portsmouth Higher Education Corporation has awarded a contract to South Coast RX Ltd to provide an integrated sports physiotherapy service supporting university sport and wellbeing.

The contract has a value of £255,000 including VAT and is expected to commence on 2 September 2026, running until 1 September 2029. The University has the option to extend the agreement by up to two additional 12-month periods, potentially taking the contract through to 1 September 2031.

Supporting Student Health and Performance

The contract will deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service designed to support:

• Student-athlete health, wellbeing and performance
• Injury prevention, rehabilitation and return-to-play
• A holistic, relationship-led approach to care

Procurement Process

The contract was awarded through a below threshold open competition.

Three tenders were received and all three progressed to the final assessment stage. Two submissions were from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with one supplier awarded the contract.

The award decision was made on 31 July 2026, with the earliest contract signature date scheduled for 14 August 2026.
