Rethink Mental Illness awarded £3m Coventry mental health rehabilitation contract

Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust has awarded Rethink Mental Illness a £3 million contract to provide specialised residential mental health care and rehabilitation services at Hawkesbury Lodge in Coventry.

The service will operate from a newly refurbished, 14-bed unit in Coventry, West Midlands, accommodating suitable patients currently placed out of area. The provider will work with Trust care teams to support rehabilitation, with the aim of helping individuals transition to supported accommodation or independent living.

The contract is valued at £3 million excluding VAT (£3.6 million including VAT). The award decision was made on 1 July 2026, following a competitive flexible procedure that received five tenders.

The contract is estimated to run from 27 October 2026 to 30 September 2029, with a possible 24-month extension to 30 September 2031. The notice states that the earliest date for signing the contract is 26 October 2026, following the standstill period ending on 23 October 2026.
