Newcastle City Council has awarded a contract for the delivery of its Mentoring for Care Leavers service to VOLUNTEERING MATTERS.
The contract will support young people and young adults leaving care in Newcastle through the delivery of a pilot mentoring service. The programme will be delivered in partnership with the council over a period of up to 18 months, with the aim of providing a consistent approach to supporting care leavers across the city.
According to the procurement, the council requires a service that can be delivered within an annual budget of £50,000.
The contract has a value of £75,000 excluding VAT (£75,000 including VAT) and is scheduled to run from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027. The agreement includes an option to extend for a further six months, potentially taking the contract through to 31 January 2028.
The contract was awarded through a below threshold procedure without competition under the Light Touch regime.
The award decision was made on 20 July 2026, with the earliest contract signature date set for 31 July 2026.
