London Borough of Bromley Awards £650,000 Point of Care Testing Contract for NHS Health Checks

The London Borough of Bromley has awarded a contract to BHR Pharmaceuticals Limited for the provision of a Point of Care Testing (POCT) service to support the delivery of NHS Health Checks across the borough.

The contract has a value of £650,000 excluding VAT (£780,000 including VAT) and is expected to commence on 13 August 2026, running until 31 March 2034. The agreement includes the option to extend the contract until 31 March 2036, at the sole discretion of the Council, depending on service requirements, available budget and supplier performance.

Supporting NHS Health Checks

The Point of Care Testing service will provide the equipment, consumables and training required to carry out cholesterol and HbA1c (diabetes) blood tests, which form an important part of the NHS Health Check programme.

Competitive Procurement

The contract was awarded following a competitive flexible procedure.

Three tenders were received and assessed at the final stage, with all three submissions coming from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). One supplier was awarded the contract.

The award decision was made on 12 February 2026, with assessment summaries issued to tenderers on 19 February 2026. The standstill period is due to end on 12 August 2026, with the earliest contract signature date being 13 August 2026.
