Herts Vision Loss Secures Sensory Support Services Contract from Hertfordshire County Council

Hertfordshire County Council has awarded a contract to Herts Vision Loss to provide support services for adults who are blind or have sight loss across the county.

The award forms part of the council’s procurement for the provision of a sensory support service in Hertfordshire and covers Lot 2 – Support for Individuals Residing in Hertfordshire Who are Blind or Have Sight Loss.

Under the contract, Herts Vision Loss will deliver support services for Hertfordshire residents aged 18 and over who are blind or living with sight loss. The agreement has a value of £400,000 excluding VAT (£480,000 including VAT) and is scheduled to commence on 1 August 2026.

The contract will run for an initial three-year term until 31 July 2029, with the option for Hertfordshire County Council to extend the arrangement by a further year, potentially taking the contract through to 31 July 2030.

Other Lots

The procurement was divided into three lots. While Lot 2 has now been awarded, Hertfordshire County Council confirmed that two further lots will not proceed to award.

Lot 1 – Visual Rehabilitation for Individuals Who are Blind or Have Sight Loss and Lot 3 – Support for Individuals Residing in Hertfordshire Who are Deaf or Have Hearing Loss were both subject to decisions not to award on 4 June 2026.

Competition Details

The contract was procured through an Open Procedure. Three tenders were received for Lot 2, with all three bidders progressing to the final assessment stage. All final-stage submissions were from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
