Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Directly Awards £187,500 Financial Turnaround Contract to Luxhay

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is set to award Luxhay Limited a £187,500 contract to provide specialist financial turnaround and recovery support for the BSW Hospitals Group’s 2026/27 Return to Plan Programme.

The six-month contract is expected to run from 7 September 2026 to 31 March 2027 and is valued at £187,500 excluding VAT, or £225,000 including VAT.

Luxhay will provide senior advisory support focused on financial recovery, grip and control, forecasting assurance, residual gap management, reporting improvements and the development of a medium-term financial sustainability framework across the Group’s three Care Organisations.

The contract is being awarded directly under Schedule 5 of the Procurement Act 2023 on the basis of technical reasons. According to the notice, the proposed adviser has previously worked within the system on financial turnaround and improvement initiatives and has established knowledge of the financial, operational and governance context across Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and the wider BSW Hospitals Group.

The contracting authority said this existing knowledge will allow the adviser to mobilise immediately without a prolonged discovery, familiarisation or relationship-building phase. It also considered an open tender, Competitive Flexible Procedure and alternative framework route, but said these would introduce delay, mobilisation risk and loss of continuity at a point when corrective action needs to influence the 2026/27 financial position.

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust are also involved in the procurement, acting on behalf of BSW Hospitals Group.
