NHS England has awarded a national framework for the supply of generic pharmaceutical products, with awards made across three lots covering oral and non-parenteral products, hospital-only products and hospital-only housekeeping products.
The largest lot, covering hospital-only products, has a stated value of £393.3 million excluding VAT and has been awarded to 101 suppliers. The oral and non-parenteral products lot is valued at £15.5 million and has 20 appointed suppliers, while the hospital-only housekeeping products lot is valued at £21 million with 43 suppliers appointed. The notice states that framework lot values may be shared with other lots.
The framework covers pharmaceutical supplies across regions of England, with potential call-off periods beginning on 1 February 2027. Depending on the lot and region, initial call-off periods run for between eight and 40 months, with options to extend at NHS England’s discretion.
The award decision was made on 27 August 2026, with the earliest contract signing date stated as 25 September 2026.
