15 Care Providers Appointed to £325m Gateshead Care Home Framework

Gateshead Borough Council has appointed 15 care providers to a new Light Touch Framework for residential and nursing care homes for Ageing Well people across the borough.

The framework covers six lots spanning General Residential, EMI Residential, General Nursing and EMI Nursing care, including provision through dual-registered homes. It applies to residential and nursing care homes situated within Gateshead and covers resident groups including people with general needs, learning or physical disabilities, mental health conditions, autism, neurological needs, and those requiring palliative or end-of-life care.

The appointed providers across the six lots are Akari Care Limited, Anchor Hanover Group, Barchester Healthcare Homes Limited, Care UK Community Partnerships Ltd, Enhanced Elderly Care Limited, Everyturn, Gainford Care Homes Limited, Hadrian Healthcare (Whickham) Limited, Hawksbury House Limited, HC-One No.1 Limited, Parkside Care Limited, Prestwick Care Limited, Sanctuary Care Limited, Solehawk Limited and Wellburn Care Homes Limited.

The framework is valued at £325 million, with the notice stating that framework lot values may be shared with other lots.

The award decision was made on 23 September 2026. The framework is expected to run from 6 October 2026 until 6 October 2031.

Following the initial procurement, the framework is closed to new applications, but the council intends to reopen it at least annually on the anniversary of the contract start date, allowing new or previously unsuccessful care homes to apply.
