Wandsworth Awards Extra Care Housing Support Contract for Alder House

The London Borough of Wandsworth has awarded a contract to Care-Away Limited (trading as Care Support) for the provision of 24/7 care and support services at Alder House on Alton Road, Roehampton.

The contract is valued at £3,167,236 and has been awarded through a direct award under the light touch regime.

According to the contract notice, the service will provide flexible, needs-based care and support for adults aged 55 and over living in the Extra Care Housing scheme, enabling residents to live independently in accordance with the Care Act 2014.

The council states that the direct award relates to a procurement exercise undertaken during 2021–2022, through which the provider was originally identified following a competitive process for the Alder House scheme.

The award notice explains that the scheme has not previously been operational due to development delays and is now ready for occupation, with mobilisation required from July 2026. The authority states that awarding the contract to the originally appointed provider will enable timely mobilisation, maintain continuity with the outcome of the original competition and avoid delays to occupation while a procurement process is undertaken for longer-term provision. The contract duration and pricing have also been updated to reflect current requirements and market conditions.

The contract is expected to commence on 6 July 2026 and run until 5 July 2030, with an option to extend until 5 July 2031. The earliest contract signature date is 30 June 2026.
