Rainbow Foundation Awarded Social Prescribing and Community Wellness Contract in Wrexham

Wrexham County Borough Council and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have awarded the contract for the provision of Social Prescribing and Community Wellness services to The Rainbow Foundation, Wrexham.

The contract has a value of £101,594,894 excluding VAT (£121,913,872.80 including VAT) and was awarded following an open procurement process.

The agreement is expected to commence on 1 August 2026 and run until 31 March 2029, with the option to extend in annual increments for up to two years, potentially taking the contract through to 31 March 2031.

The service will deliver a countywide, community-based social prescribing and community wellness model for residents aged 25 and over across Wrexham County Borough. Working in line with the National Framework for Social Prescribing, the service will provide personalised, non-clinical wellbeing support through structured “What Matters” conversations, co-produced wellbeing plans and therapeutic-style interventions designed to improve mental, physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

The procurement attracted eight tenders, all of which were assessed at the final stage. Three submissions came from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and five from voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), with The Rainbow Foundation selected as the successful supplier.

The award decision was made on 3 July 2026, with the earliest contract signature date scheduled for 22 July 2026.
