Communities in Sync Awarded Sandwell Community Dementia Service Contract

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council has awarded a contract for the delivery of its new Sandwell Community Dementia Service, appointing Communities in Sync Limited as lead provider under a collaborative delivery model.

The new service has been designed to strengthen integration across neighbourhood and frailty models of care, providing coordinated, person-centred support for people living with dementia. Working alongside primary care networks, community health teams, social care, voluntary organisations and local partners, the service aims to improve early intervention, shared care planning and support people to maintain their independence within their communities.

Under the contract, the lead provider will establish subcontracting arrangements with community organisations across Sandwell to ensure services reflect the area’s diverse communities. The service will provide a single point of access for support across community, care home and hospital settings, offering information, advice and referrals, integrated care and support planning, training for people living with dementia and their carers, professional training, and wider community education to support the delivery of Dementia Friendly Sandwell.

The contract has been awarded with a value of £1,314,428 excluding VAT (£1,577,313.60 including VAT).

The initial contract is expected to run from 29 September 2026 until 28 September 2028, with the option to extend for a further year until 28 September 2029, subject to approval.

A total of 18 tenders were received, with three suppliers progressing to the final assessment stage. The procurement was conducted using the Open Procedure under the Light Touch Regime.
