Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council intends to award contracts worth £815,689.70 excluding VAT (£978,827.64 including VAT) for its Wrap Around Service to six providers covering the borough.
The successful providers are:
The service will provide urgent, short-term care at home for people who need immediate support. Providers must deploy care workers within one hour of referral, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. Support may include day or night sessions lasting up to 12 hours, for up to 72 hours per episode.
The service aims to help people remain independent at home, prevent community crises and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions while longer-term needs are assessed. Providers must also have experience supporting people who present with challenging behaviour.
The award decision was made on 23 October 2026. The estimated contract period runs from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027, with up to two optional one-year extensions, subject to approval, potentially extending the contracts to 30 November 2029.
The earliest date for signing the contracts is 13 November 2026, following the standstill period ending on 3 November 2026. The notice records intended awards, not confirmed signed agreements.
