Shaw Healthcare Awarded £69.25m Hartrigg Oaks Care Contract

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) has awarded Shaw Healthcare Limited a contract to deliver integrated care services at Hartrigg Oaks Continuing Care Retirement Community in York.

The contract is valued at £69.25 million excluding VAT and is expected to run from 10 January 2027 to 11 January 2037, with an option to extend for up to a further five years, potentially taking the agreement to January 2042.

Hartrigg Oaks comprises 152 bungalows and The Oaks, a 43-bed residential and nursing care home. Shaw Healthcare will be responsible for in-home domiciliary care, residential and nursing care, as well as the operation of on-site catering services and the Healthy Activity Centre.

The provider will assume responsibility for the delivery, safety and quality of care services, including clinical governance, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

The award decision was made on 25 September 2026 following a competitive flexible procedure. Two tenders were received, with one assessed at the final stage.
