Derby City Council has awarded a contract for the provision of an independent Children’s Rights Service covering advocacy, representation and Independent Visitor services.
The service will support children and young people who are looked after or leaving care, privately fostered, have disabilities, or require advocacy for Child Protection Conferences.
Citizens Advice Mid Mercia has been awarded the contract, valued at £389,499.86 excluding VAT and £467,399.84 including VAT.
The service must support a minimum of 40 children and young people at any one time and provide representatives for at least 50 Child Protection or ACYP meetings each year.
The contract is expected to run from 20 November 2026 to 19 November 2028, with the option of three 12-month extensions, potentially taking the arrangement through to 19 November 2031.
Five tenders were received and all five reached the final assessment stage. All five were submitted by SMEs.
The award decision was made on 27 August 2026, with the contract expected to be signed no earlier than 10 September 2026.
