Darlington Association on Disability Wins £660,000 Direct Payment Support Contract

Darlington Borough Council has awarded Darlington Association on Disability a £660,000 contract (excluding VAT) to deliver its Direct Payment Support Service.

The service will provide information, advice and support to people living in the Borough of Darlington who have unmet eligible needs under the Care Act 2014, or who are transferring from commissioned support and can have their identified needs met through a Direct Payment.

The contract has an estimated start date of 1 January 2027 and will run until 31 December 2027, with the council holding the option to extend it by three further 12-month periods, potentially taking the contract through to 31 December 2030.

The award decision was made on 29 October 2026, with eight tenders received and assessed. Darlington Association on Disability was the sole successful supplier.

The contract is valued at £660,000 excluding VAT (£792,000 including VAT). The earliest date for signing the agreement is 13 November 2026, following the standstill period ending on 12 November 2026.
