Blossom Early Years Wins £1.2m Prince Charles Hospital Childcare Contract

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has awarded a £1.24 million contract to Blossom Early Years to operate and manage the childcare facility at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

The service will provide childcare for up to 48 children aged between six weeks and seven years and 11 months under a concession-style lease arrangement. Blossom Early Years will be responsible for staffing, safeguarding, regulatory compliance and financial management.

The contract is expected to run for 15 years, from 2 November 2026 to 1 November 2041, and is valued at £1,235,917 excluding VAT and £1,483,100.40 including VAT.

Three tenders were received and assessed, all submitted by SMEs, with Blossom Early Years identified as the Most Advantageous Tender.

The award decision was made on 18 September 2026, with the contract expected to be signed no earlier than 30 September 2026. NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership managed the procurement on behalf of the Health Board through a below-threshold open competition under the concession special regime.
