Trafford Council is inviting tenders for a service to improve healthy food environments for children and young people across Trafford. The opportunity aims to strengthen food and nutrition practices in schools and early years settings, with a focus on improving school food standards, increasing school meal uptake and supporting sustainable improvements in children’s nutrition.
Lot 1 – Healthy School Food Environments (£105,000 excluding VAT)
The provider will support schools to improve their food environments, strengthen the implementation of School Food Standards and increase school meal uptake.
Lot 2 – Early Years Food Environments (£105,000 excluding VAT)
The provider will develop Trafford’s understanding of food environments in early years settings and support sustainable improvements in food and nutrition practices.
Trafford Council may award both lots to one provider or appoint separate providers. Partnership and consortium arrangements are welcome. Where separate providers are appointed, they will be expected to work collaboratively to support a coordinated approach across Trafford.
The successful provider or providers will deliver activities relevant to their appointed lot, focusing on improving food environments and nutrition practices for children and young people.
For Lot 1, the work will focus on supporting schools to implement School Food Standards and encourage greater uptake of school meals.
For Lot 2, the work will focus on understanding early years food environments and supporting sustainable improvements in food and nutrition practices.
Detailed delivery requirements should be confirmed in the tender specification.
The opportunity is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs).
Providers may tender for one or both lots. Partnership and consortium applications are welcome. Suppliers appointed to separate lots will be expected to collaborate to ensure a coherent approach across Trafford.
Further eligibility and technical requirements are set out in the Invitation to Tender and Specification.
The tender will be evaluated on quality, weighted at 100%. A price schedule must still be submitted, and pricing is addressed within the quality assessment. No separate price weighting is specified in the supplied notice.
This opportunity may be relevant to public health organisations, school food specialists, early years providers, nutrition and health charities, and organisations experienced in improving food environments for children. Providers with expertise in school meal uptake, food standards and early years nutrition may wish to consider applying for one or both lots.
