South Tyneside Borough Council has selected Vestra Homecare Ltd to deliver extra care services at Griffin Court in Hebburn under a contract valued at £26.9 million including VAT.
The service will support adults with Care Act eligible needs across the scheme’s 95 apartments, including people with physical disabilities, dementia, low or moderate learning disabilities or autism, and mental health needs. Seventeen specialist dementia apartments will be located on the ground floor.
The contract is expected to run from 1 January 2027 to 31 March 2033, with two possible one-year extensions to 31 March 2035.
The award decision was made on 17 August 2026 following a competitive flexible procedure. Five tenders were assessed, with Vestra Homecare selected as the sole supplier.
