The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has again rated Home Instead Northampton as Outstanding following an inspection carried out in May 2026.

The service, operated by R & JW Care Ltd, provides domiciliary care and personal support to people in their own homes. The inspection formed part of CQC’s routine monitoring programme.

Inspectors once again rated the service Outstanding for both Caring and Well-led, while Safe, Effective and Responsive were all rated Good.

The CQC found people receiving care were consistently positive about the service, with relatives describing the support as enabling them to spend more time being family members rather than carers. Inspectors reported that staff built strong, trusting relationships with the people they supported by working in small, familiar care teams, allowing care to be tailored to individual needs and preferences.

The inspection highlighted several examples of staff going beyond expected standards of care, including visiting people in hospital, remaining with individuals following emergency admissions and providing additional support during periods of increased need.

Inspectors also recognised the organisation’s commitment to continuous improvement. Leaders were found to maintain an open and supportive culture where staff felt confident raising concerns and where feedback from people using the service and their families was used to improve care.

The report highlighted innovative staff development, including dementia awareness workshops designed to help care professionals better understand the lived experience of dementia and strengthen compassionate, person-centred care.

The CQC also found that leaders maintained a visible presence through in-person quality assurance visits during care calls, helping them monitor standards and identify opportunities for improvement.

Inspectors praised the service’s collaborative approach to care, noting that staff worked closely with GPs and other health and social care professionals to support safe medicines management, coordinate care and ensure smooth transitions between services, including following hospital admissions.

The report also recognised the personalised approach taken by staff to help people maintain their independence and quality of life, with care plans adapted to meet individual preferences and changing needs.

Overall, the CQC concluded that Home Instead Northampton continues to provide high-quality, person-centred care supported by strong leadership, a positive organisational culture and a commitment to continual improvement.
