North East Combined Authority Awards £140,000 Childcare Support Contracts

North East Combined Authority has awarded two contracts worth a combined £140,000 for a project aimed at engaging economically inactive parents and carers who are not currently accessing mainstream employment and skills provision.

Foundation of Light and Newcastle United Foundation have each been awarded a £70,000 contract under the Tackling Childcare Barriers through HAF and After School Activity project.

The project will deliver targeted family engagement and recruitment activity, including holiday and after-school activities for school-aged children, taster sessions for parents with childcare provided on-site, and community-based engagement events delivered through trusted local venues and partners.

Both contracts are expected to run for seven months, from 1 September 2026 until 31 March 2027.

Foundation of Light will deliver a £70,000 contract, while Newcastle United Foundation has also secured a £70,000 contract.

The contracts cover delivery across Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.

The awards were made through a below-threshold procedure without competition, with the earliest contract signing date stated as 1 September 2026.
