NHS England is working with the Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust (HACT) to deliver a programme of housing clinics for mental health trusts from September 2026 to March 2027.
The clinics are designed to address housing as a significant barrier to patient discharge. Each tailored two-hour session will give participating trusts an opportunity to explore discharge and rehabilitation challenges specific to their local area and health and care system.
HACT will work collaboratively with trusts to identify locally appropriate solutions, drawing on expertise in mental health and housing integration alongside insights from peers.
Participating organisations will use the sessions to establish clear next steps, responsibilities and actions aligned with local needs and ICB three-year plans to localise inpatient care.
Mental health trusts interested in taking part should identify their key internal stakeholders and contact Tonita Whittier at england.mhldaqualitytransformation@nhs.net to register their interest.
