NHS Borders has awarded Spire Ltd a £250,000 contract for the provision of approximately 50 orthopaedic procedures to support waiting time recovery.
The short-term arrangement will see procedures delivered at Spire Newcastle over a seven-month period, providing additional capacity to help reduce patient waiting times while NHS Borders considers longer-term options.
NHS Borders awarded the contract directly after identifying Spire Newcastle Hospital as capable of delivering the required activity within the necessary timeframe. The contract was concluded on 17 August 2026 and is valued at £250,000 excluding VAT.
