Camden prepares to re-procure supported accommodation service for young people

The London Borough of Camden has announced preliminary market engagement ahead of the re-procurement of its Young People’s Supported Accommodation – Mixed Support service.

The council plans to begin the re-procurement process in September 2026 and is holding a market engagement event to inform potential suppliers and generate interest from a wide range of organisations.

Camden currently commissions supported accommodation services for young people aged 16 to 25, with services based in the borough providing capacity for more than 300 young people.

Young people using the services can have varying and complex needs. The council states that many may have experienced family breakdown, unsuccessful placements, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, child criminal exploitation or risks of significant harm. Young people have access to wraparound services including health, education and, where required, support from CAMHS.

New service to support 15 young people

The specific Young People’s Supported Accommodation – Mixed Support service being re-procured will be required to provide support for 15 young people aged 16 to 25.

Suppliers will need to include properties as part of their bid submission. Each property must provide at least five units and be situated either within Camden or within two miles of the borough’s boundaries.

The landlord of the proposed properties must be a Registered Provider with the Regulator of Social Housing, while the accommodation itself must meet the Decent Homes Standard.

Potential suppliers will also be required to demonstrate at least three years’ experience delivering similar services to young people aged 16 to 25.

The existing contract is due to expire in March 2027. Camden intends to use the engagement exercise to discuss its vision for the future service and alert providers to the proposed timetable for the tender process.

Market engagement event

The virtual market engagement event will take place via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 3 September 2026 from 2pm to 3pm.

Organisations wishing to participate must register their interest by emailing the requested company and attendee details to remy.cullinan@camden.gov.uk by 12 noon on 31 August 2026. Registered providers will subsequently receive a link to join the event.
