Advanced practitioners, trainees, educators and healthcare employers across England are being invited to take part in Advancing Practice Week 2026, with a programme of free masterclasses and opportunities to share learning from across the health service.
The week will bring together professionals at different stages of their advanced practice journey, alongside supervisors and workforce leaders, to celebrate the contribution advanced practitioners make and support the continued development of advanced practice across England.
This year’s programme will focus heavily on practical support and shared learning, with a free lunchtime masterclass taking place each day.
Monday’s session will explore the Centre Portal and how practitioners can use its resources, tools and professional community. Tuesday will focus on supervision in advanced practice, including requirements for Advanced Practitioner trainees and examples from primary and community care.
Wednesday’s masterclass will look at the wider role of the Centre for Advancing Practice, including accreditation, recognition and workforce development, while Thursday will examine how digital tools can help practitioners access resources, connect with colleagues and demonstrate their achievements.
The week will conclude on Friday with a session examining the role advanced practitioners can play in reducing health inequalities, including examples of work aimed at improving access, outcomes and patient experiences.
There are also new opportunities for organisations and individuals to get involved in 2026. A dedicated Advancing Practice Week platform will provide downloadable promotional materials, logos, graphics and communications resources that organisations can use to support their own local activities.
Practitioners, supervisors, educators and employers are also being encouraged to contribute case studies, examples of innovative practice, lessons learned and practical tips that could help colleagues elsewhere in the country.
Registration for the masterclasses is due to open next week, with places expected to be limited.
