The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded Outstanding ratings to two GP practices in the north of England following inspections in May, recognising both services for continuing to deliver exceptionally high standards of patient care.
Stockwell Road Surgery in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, and Barlow Medical Centre in Didsbury, Manchester, were both found to be providing outstanding care for a second consecutive inspection.
Stockwell Road Surgery provides primary care services to approximately 8,766 patients and also serves as a teaching and training practice for medical students and GPs.
Barlow Medical Centre delivers GP services to around 16,118 patients in the Manchester area.
The inspections formed part of CQC’s ongoing programme of monitoring the safety and quality of health and social care services.
Inspectors found that both practices were delivering exemplary, person-centred care, with patients receiving high-quality support tailored to their individual needs. The findings resulted in both services retaining the regulator’s highest overall rating.
CQC said the practices demonstrated consistently high standards of care and highlighted them as examples of outstanding primary care. The regulator also encouraged other GP practices to learn from the approaches taken by both organisations.
The latest inspections reinforce the continued commitment of both practices to delivering safe, effective and compassionate care, maintaining standards that place them among the highest-rated GP services in England.
