CQC upgrades Nottingham homecare service to Outstanding

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has upgraded Respectful Care Nottingham South from Good to Outstanding following an inspection carried out in May.

The service, operated by Peach, Peach and Peach Limited and based in West Bridgford, Nottingham, provides homecare support for adults of all ages, including people living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. At the time of the inspection, the service was providing personal care to 147 people.

Following the inspection, the CQC upgraded the service’s ratings for Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led from Good to Outstanding. The Safe rating remained Good, resulting in an overall rating of Outstanding.

Inspectors found that staff knew people well and responded promptly when care needs changed. The report highlighted an example where a member of staff recognised signs of possible sepsis and contacted emergency services without delay, enabling the person to receive timely medical treatment.

The CQC found the service supported people to remain connected to their local communities through social activities, outings and a monthly Sunday social, helping to reduce social isolation.

Inspectors also found that the service worked closely with health professionals and partner organisations to coordinate care as people’s needs changed. Personalised risk management plans reflected individuals’ preferences and supported people to maintain their independence wherever possible.

The report noted that medicines were managed safely, with accurate records and regular checks to identify and address any discrepancies. Leaders used electronic systems to monitor incidents, complaints and care records, enabling concerns to be identified and acted upon promptly.

The CQC also found that leaders promoted an open culture where staff felt able to raise concerns and contribute to service improvements. Inspectors highlighted the service’s work to support international staff and its use of accessible information to help ensure people were able to access care and support appropriate to their needs.
