Community Musculoskeletal Service

NHS Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (HIOW ICB) is seeking a provider to deliver a Community Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The contract has an estimated value of £137,739,079.15 excluding VAT and will provide community MSK services for adults registered with NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight GP practices, as well as individuals for whom the ICB is the responsible commissioner.

The successful provider will be expected to deliver the service across the whole NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight population, which now exceeds two million people following the addition of the North East Hampshire population in April 2026.

The commissioning area includes Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight, covering a population with a broad range of health needs and demographic characteristics.

The ICB highlights an ageing population with increasing frailty and multiple health needs, particularly within rural communities, West Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Urban areas including Southampton, Portsmouth and North East Hampshire have more ethnically diverse populations, alongside areas experiencing higher deprivation and mental health vulnerability. Coastal communities are also identified as experiencing lower life expectancy and higher rates of several diseases compared with non-coastal areas.

Service Requirements

The Community Musculoskeletal Service will be available to adults who are:

  • Registered with an NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight GP practice
  • The commissioning responsibility of NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB

The provider will be responsible for delivering the service across the entire NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight geography.

Further detailed service requirements are contained within the procurement documents.
