Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a provider to deliver commissioned short break group activities for disabled children, supporting both children and their carers across the borough.
The service forms part of the Council’s responsibilities under the Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011. These regulations require local authorities to consider the needs of carers who may be unable to continue providing care, or provide care as effectively, without access to appropriate breaks.
Short breaks can also enable carers to undertake education, training or regular leisure activities, meet the needs of other children within their family more effectively, and carry out everyday tasks required to manage their household.
The Council is required to provide an appropriate range of short break services that help carers continue caring for disabled children or enable them to do so more effectively.
