Nuffield Health Set for £285,000 Barking, Havering and Redbridge Pain Management Contract

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust intends to award Nuffield Health (The Holly Hospital) a £285,000 contract for outsourced pain management services.

The contract will cover the complete Chronic Pain Service for Adults for approximately 400 patients currently awaiting treatment, supporting the reduction of Referral to Treatment waiting times.

Nuffield Health will accept eligible referrals from the Trust, provide new outpatient Consultant Pain Medicine assessments and deliver clinically appropriate follow-up appointments and treatment required to complete patients’ pathways within its agreed scope.

The proposed contract is expected to run until 31 March 2027.

The award is being made through Provider Selection Regime Direct Award Process C. The Trust states that Nuffield Health is the current incumbent, has delivered the service to a high standard, is fully integrated into the patient care pathway and has demonstrated value for money. It also states that changing provider or mobilisation would cause disruption to patients and impact their treatment.

The contract has not yet formally been awarded. The notice is an intention to award under the Provider Selection Regime, with the standstill period stated as closing at 23:59 on 2 September 2026.
