North Yorkshire Council has selected Horton Housing Support Limited for a £6.77 million contract to manage five Gypsy, Roma and Traveller sites across the county, including the provision of domestic abuse support to residents.
The Bradford-based organisation will be responsible for managing the sites, with the contract also including a dedicated Domestic Abuse Support Worker to provide support to residents.
The council has opted for a direct award after an earlier competitive tendering exercise failed to attract any compliant bids. The award is being made under Section 43 of the Procurement Act 2023, which permits direct awards in specified circumstances where no suitable tenders have been received.
The contract is expected to run from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2029, with three possible two-year extensions potentially taking the agreement through to October 2035.
The agreement may also be expanded to include three additional sites at Bickerton, Thistle Hill in Knaresborough and Catterick, subject to lease arrangements and agreement between the council and provider.
The contract has a total value of £6,768,000 excluding VAT.
