Weston General Hospital’s Emergency Department was temporarily closed after a fire at the hospital on Monday, prompting the evacuation of patients and staff.
The fire was extinguished safely, and the hospital confirmed that all patients and staff were evacuated without injury.
Following the incident, the hospital’s Emergency Department closed overnight. Patients requiring urgent or emergency care were advised to attend their nearest alternative emergency department or local minor injury unit while services were disrupted.
The hospital’s operator, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, said the Emergency Department is scheduled to reopen at 8am on Tuesday, operating as normal, with access via the hospital’s main entrance.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
