Derby City Council Awards £200k Contract to Support Marmot Place Programme

Derby City Council is set to award a £200,000 contract to University College London to support a programme of work aimed at enabling Derby to become a ‘Marmot Place’.

The contract will provide specialist capability and capacity to support the programme, which is described as a framework to help improve population health and reduce health inequalities.

University College London has been selected to deliver the work, with the contract specifically covering the commissioning of the UCL Institute of Health Equity to support Derby City Council in becoming a Marmot Place.

The contract is valued at £200,000 excluding VAT and £240,000 including VAT and is expected to run for two years, from 1 October 2026 until 30 September 2028.

The award decision was made on 7 August 2026, with 20 August 2026 listed as the earliest date the contract will be signed.

The contract has been awarded through a below-threshold procedure without competition under the light touch regime and is classified under health and social work services.

The work will be delivered in Derby.
