Care Inspectorate updates guidance on regulated care service inspections

The Care Inspectorate has published updated guidance explaining how it inspects regulated care services across Scotland.

The guidance, How we inspect regulated services: guidance for providers of regulated care settings and the public, sets out what providers and people using care services can expect during the inspection process.

It explains how the Care Inspectorate plans inspections, gathers and considers evidence, evaluates services and provides feedback following an inspection.

The guidance is intended for regulated care providers as well as people experiencing care, their families and carers and the wider public.

According to the Care Inspectorate, the updated document aims to provide a clearer understanding of what to expect from an inspection and how the inspection process supports improvements in the quality of care.
