Yvette Cooper Appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has appointed Yvette Cooper as the UK’s new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, as part of his first Cabinet following his arrival in Downing Street.

Cooper succeeds James Murray and takes responsibility for one of the Government’s largest and most complex departments, overseeing the NHS and the wider health and social care system in England.
