Careium UK Awarded Herefordshire Technology Enabled Care Services Contract

Herefordshire Council and NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board have awarded a contract to Careium UK Limited for the provision of a Technology Enabled Care Service (TECS) across Herefordshire.

The service supports vulnerable residents to live safely and independently in their own homes while helping to prevent avoidable hospital admissions. It includes the supply, installation, maintenance and monitoring of technology-enabled care equipment, community equipment, daily living aids and minor adaptations, together with the collection, cleaning, refurbishment and recycling of equipment that is no longer required.

Jointly commissioned by Herefordshire Council and the NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board, the service supports both organisations in meeting their statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014 for the provision of community equipment and technology-enabled care services.

The contract has been awarded with a value of £941,666 excluding VAT (£1,129,999 including VAT).

The contract is expected to run until 31 March 2027.

The contract was awarded through a Direct Award on the grounds of extreme and unavoidable urgency following the unexpected termination of the existing contract. According to the award notice, the direct award was necessary to maintain continuity of critical services while longer-term commissioning and procurement arrangements are put in place. The notice also states that it has been published retrospectively to provide transparency regarding the original direct award, which commenced on 1 August 2025.
