The East Sussex County Council Approved List for Supported Accommodation (including Housing Support Services) for Homeless Adults and Young People in East Sussex

East Sussex County Council is continuing its Approved List for Supported Accommodation and Housing Support Services for homeless adults and young people across East Sussex.

The Approved List supports the delivery of flexible, outcomes-focused accommodation-based support services designed to prevent homelessness, improve wellbeing, and help vulnerable individuals regain independence.

According to the Council, the service underpins the strategic priorities of Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, local health partners, and housing services across the county.

The arrangement covers supported accommodation and on-site housing support services aimed at preventing crisis situations and reducing reliance on hospital services, residential settings, and the criminal justice system.

Service Objectives

The Council stated that providers appointed to the Approved List will be expected to deliver services that:

  • Prevent homelessness and wider crisis situations
  • Support mental and physical wellbeing
  • Help individuals better manage substance use and complex needs
  • Promote healthy living and self-care
  • Build resilience through asset-based approaches to personal development
  • Support employment and future independent living
  • Reduce dependence on accommodation-based care and statutory services
  • Enable people to regain independence and move on successfully from support services

The specification highlights the importance of proactive and person-centred support designed to maximise individuals’ ability to live independently within the community.
