Leicestershire County Council has opened a major residential care provider opportunity worth an estimated £700 million for organisations supporting adults eligible for social care support across the county.
The Provider List will be used for the commissioning and contracting of individual residential care packages for Leicestershire residents who have been assessed as eligible under the Care Act 2014 or the NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) Framework.
The opportunity relates to adults requiring residential or nursing care home placements to meet their assessed care needs within Leicestershire. Placements outside of the county will be managed separately on a case-by-case basis.
According to the Council, the Provider List will commence no later than 1 February 2025 and will remain in place for four years from the commencement date.
The Council also confirmed that it does not expect to make placements within Leicestershire outside of this Provider List once the arrangement goes live.
Providers awarded onto the list will include all eligible locations operated under each organisation.
As part of the process, providers must confirm that they are registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide:
Providers are also required to submit CQC registration numbers for each location that could potentially accommodate Leicestershire residents.
The opportunity represents a significant long-term commissioning arrangement for residential care providers operating within the county and highlights the continued demand for compliant residential and nursing care placements across the region.
