POW-CP-62805 – Provision of Dental Services – Newtown

Powys Teaching Health Board is inviting bids from dental healthcare providers with the capacity and capability, or a demonstrable ability to provide the required capacity and capability, to deliver NHS General Dental Services in Newtown, Powys.

The contract is intended to establish a new operational dental service that delivers high-quality, efficient and cost-effective NHS General Dental Services. The successful provider will be expected to meet the needs of the local population while supporting the Health Board’s strategic approach to primary care dental provision.

The service aims include:

  • Delivering appropriate, efficient and cost-effective services within the mandatory General Dental Services contract framework.
  • Providing high-quality general dental services that meet the needs of diverse population groups within the Powys Teaching Health Board area.
  • Offering flexibility in appointment times.
  • Establishing a positive working relationship with Powys Teaching Health Board to maximise service delivery.
  • Developing services in line with the evolving local strategic approach to primary care dental provision.
  • Accepting new patients in accordance with Welsh Government guidance.
  • Providing timely urgent care for patients associated with the practice.
  • Delivering services for patients who are residents of Powys and/or registered with a Powys GP.
  • Demonstrating the use of skill mix and digital technology, including “Attend Anywhere”.

The Health Board is seeking proposals for a dental practice serving Newtown, Powys, with an indicative patient population of 6,000. Proposals may involve establishing a new practice with sufficient dental chairs or incorporating an existing established practice within Powys. The Health Board has stated that it is particularly interested in proposals capable of establishing a new operational dental contract within a short timeframe.
