NHSGGC Walk & Talk Service

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a provider to deliver a short-term, non-clinical support service for young people aged 12 to 24 living in Glasgow City.

The Walk & Talk Service will support young people who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, isolation or other difficulties, including those who are disengaged or at risk of becoming disengaged from education and their community.

Through regular contact with an identified staff member or trained volunteer outside the young person’s home, the service will provide support over a number of weeks to help individuals build confidence, reconnect with peers or services and work towards positive destinations.

Service Requirements

The service will be available to young people aged 12 to 24 residing across Glasgow City.

Referrals may come from a range of statutory and other services, including:

• Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
• Glasgow City Youth Health Service
• Education
• Social Work
• Third Sector organisations
• Self-referrals

The appointed provider will be expected to provide or support pathways into appropriate positive destinations, either through its own provision or through partner services operating locally.

Delivery arrangements must recognise that some young people accessing the service may already be disengaged or at risk of disengagement. Sessions will therefore need to be arranged flexibly on a case-by-case basis.

Some provision may be required during evenings and weekends, although there is no expectation for the service to operate beyond 8pm.

As referrals will be received from across Glasgow City, staff members or trained volunteers must be able to travel to the young person’s local area.
