NHS SYICB – Community Based Stoma Care Service

NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (SYICB) is seeking a provider to deliver a Community Based Stoma Care Service across Barnsley and Sheffield. The service will provide specialist community-based stoma care, supporting patients through clinical assessment, ongoing management, and the safe and effective prescribing of stoma appliances.

The commissioned service is intended to deliver integrated, patient-centred care while reducing avoidable hospital admissions and ensuring cost-effective prescribing across the local health system.

The procurement is being undertaken under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.

Service Details

The Community Based Stoma Care Service will provide specialist nursing support, including:

• Clinical assessment and review
• Ongoing management of stoma-related conditions
• Repeat prescription ordering and review
• Prescribing of stoma appliances where appropriate

The service is designed to:

• Deliver integrated, patient-centred care
• Reduce avoidable hospital use
• Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient prescribing

The service will be delivered across Barnsley and Sheffield.

The procurement is being conducted using an Open Procedure under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.

The contracting authority has confirmed that the tender deadline has been extended by an additional five days to accommodate summer holiday leave during the tender period.
