NHS England is seeking an ambulance provider to support the Midlands Critical Care Transfer Services (MCCTs), covering specialist transfers for neonatal, paediatric and adult critical care patients alongside Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) transfer services.
The procurement is being hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of NHS England and has an estimated contract value of £85.2 million.
The appointed provider will be required to deliver a dedicated ambulance transfer service operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to support the clinical and operational delivery of time-critical specialised commissioned services.
The ambulance provision will support the Midlands Critical Care Transfer Services across four areas:
The Midlands Critical Care Transfer Services cover the Midlands for neonatal, paediatric and adult critical care. The ECMO service has a wider remit, providing supra-regional care and supporting the devolved nations.
The successful ambulance provider will be responsible for supporting these services through continuous 24/7, 365-day provision.
