Level 2 Digital Weight Management Service for Adults

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has published an Intention to Award Notice for the continued provision of a Level 2 Digital Weight Management Service for Adults.

The notice has been issued under the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025 and confirms the Health Board’s intention to award the contract using Direct Award Process 2 (DAP2).

The digital weight management service forms part of the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Weight Management Pathway and is intended to complement existing provision by increasing service capacity and providing eligible patients with flexible access to a Level 2 behavioural weight management programme.

The Health Board has assessed the existing provider against the relevant key criteria and basic selection criteria, concluding that the provider has delivered the current contract to the required standard and has the capability and capacity to continue delivering the service. The proposed arrangements do not represent a considerable change from the existing contract, making Direct Award Process 2 applicable.

The notice initiates an eight-calendar-day standstill period, ending at 15:00 on 14 August 2026, during which representations may be submitted to the Health Board.

Regulatory Requirements

The proposed award is being made under the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025 using Direct Award Process 2 (DAP2).

The Health Board confirmed that the proposed contract does not represent a considerable change from the existing arrangements and that the incumbent provider has demonstrated the capability and capacity to continue delivering the service.

This opportunity reflects continued investment in digitally enabled weight management services, supporting increased capacity and flexible access to behavioural weight management programmes for eligible patients across the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area.
