Homecare in Somerset DPS

Somerset Council has opened its Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for Homecare in Somerset, covering both domiciliary care and live-in care services across the county.

The service is designed to support individuals with varying assessed levels of need to remain living at home for as long as it is safe and appropriate to do so.

According to the Council, the focus of the service is on reablement and supporting individuals to maximise their independence through:

• Personal care
• Support with daily living
• Assistance with essential domestic tasks

• Lot 1 – Homecare in Somerset
• Lot 2 – Live-in Care

The long-term DPS is expected to provide ongoing opportunities for homecare and live-in care providers supporting adults with care and support needs across Somerset.

CQC Requirements

Providers applying to the DPS must hold registration with the Care Quality Commission.

The Council confirmed that organisations will not be eligible for a Home Care in Somerset contract if:

• The organisation holds an “Inadequate” CQC rating, and/or
• The provider’s registered CQC office is not located within 10 miles of the Somerset border
