FIF009-26 Assisted Transport (Private Ambulance) and Taxi Transport Services

NHS Fife is seeking providers to deliver Assisted Transport (Private Ambulance) and Taxi Transport Services to support patient transport requirements across Fife.

The procurement has been divided into two lots, covering non-emergency assisted patient transport and licensed taxi services. Providers may submit tenders for all lots.

The services are intended to support patient access to healthcare and facilitate safe, efficient patient movement across NHS Fife through planned and unplanned transport arrangements.

Lots Available

Lot 1 – Assisted Transport (Private Ambulance)

The successful provider will deliver a safe, responsive and sustainable assisted transport service for patients requiring a higher level of support than standard taxi provision but who do not require an emergency ambulance response.

The service will include:

  • Transport for renal patients attending scheduled dialysis appointments across NHS Fife.
  • Safe discharge transport.
  • Planned and unplanned patient journeys.
  • Inter-site transfers.
  • Non-emergency transport where a patient’s condition, mobility or clinical risk requires a suitably trained crew and appropriately equipped vehicle.

Lot 2 – Taxi Services

The successful provider will deliver licensed taxi and private hire transport services to support patient flow across NHS Fife.

The service will include:

  • Patient discharge journeys.
  • Eligible and authorised outpatient attendance.
  • Ad hoc journeys.
  • Other non-clinical transport requirements as required.
  • Access to wheelchair accessible vehicles.
  • Sufficient fleet and dispatch capacity to respond to fluctuations in demand.

Regulatory Information

The procurement is being conducted using an Open Procedure and is divided into two service lots.

For Lot 2, the contract may be renewed as it will replace the current local contract. Lot 1 is not subject to renewal.
