Community Audiology – NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB

NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (BSOL ICB) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced providers to tender for the delivery of an Adult Non-Complex Community Audiology Service across Birmingham and Solihull.

The service will support eligible patients aged over 18 who are registered with a Birmingham and Solihull GP practice for which BSOL ICB is the responsible commissioner.

The requirement covers community-based adult screening and hearing assessment, alongside treatment and ongoing audiology support. BSOL ICB is seeking full geographical coverage across both rural and urban areas within the area.

Service Requirements

Providers will be expected to deliver a community audiology pathway covering:

  • Adult screening and hearing assessments
  • Earwax removal
  • Automated audiology in line with the GIRFT Community ENT Framework
  • Hearing aid fitting where required
  • Follow-up support
  • Aftercare services

The service must also be capable of meeting the needs of eligible patients whose referrals identify additional requirements, including:

  • Sight loss or dual sensory loss
  • Translation requirements, including language, lip reading and sign language
  • Suspected or diagnosed dementia
  • Mild cognitive impairment
  • Learning disabilities where specialist testing facilities and techniques are required
  • Domiciliary care requirements

Where domiciliary care is requested in writing by a GP, providers must be able to deliver all elements of the service at the patient’s home, including within residential or nursing home settings.

The procurement is not divided into separate lots.

Delivery Length: 60 months, with the option for the commissioner to extend the contract by up to a further 2 years

Procurement Requirements

The procurement exercise will be conducted under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.

Variants will not be accepted.
