AQNV 068 – Adults Autism Community Engagement Support Service

Shropshire Council is seeking a provider to deliver an Adults Autism Community Engagement Support Service across Shropshire, providing needs-led, community-based support for autistic adults aged 18 and over at any stage of diagnosis. The service is designed to promote early intervention and prevention by helping people access local support, services, and community resources.

The service will provide short-term, autism-informed support that enables autistic adults to better understand what support is available within their local community and how to access it. The focus is on building confidence, promoting informed choices, sharing information, and strengthening independence.

The Council has identified the following key objectives for the service:

  • Improve access to information, advice, and support
  • Improve access to community support services
  • Support earlier intervention and prevention
  • Improve navigation of complex statutory and community systems
  • Align with and strengthen local autism hub offers
  • Provide accessible, person-centred support

The commissioned service is intended to complement existing provision rather than duplicate it, acting as a connective function between health, social care, housing, voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, and wider community-based support.
