Aberdeen City Council has issued a contract notice for the provision of a fully accessible Dual Sensory Support Service across Aberdeen City for adults aged 16 and over. The service is intended to support individuals living with sight and hearing impairments, while also providing assistance to their families and carers.
The appointed provider will be expected to deliver a responsive service offering a range of interventions tailored to individual needs. Support may range from intensive interventions, including social work assessments, through to lower-level support such as newsletters. As interventions may be required at short notice and on an ad hoc basis, the service must be capable of responding flexibly to changing demand.
In addition to direct support, the service will be responsible for maintaining a register of visually impaired people on behalf of Aberdeen City Council. The provider will also work to raise public awareness of sensory loss, provide training and education for professionals, and influence planning decisions to improve accessibility across the city.
