The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded Outstanding ratings across all areas to the supported living and homecare services operated by Catherine Tam Agency following its first inspection under the provider’s current registration.

The service, operated by Landermeads CSE Ltd, supports people under the age of 65, including autistic people, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health needs and people with physical disabilities. At the time of the inspection, the supported living service was supporting eight people and the homecare service was supporting three.

The inspection was carried out using the CQC’s Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture framework, which assesses whether services enable autistic people and people with a learning disability to live with dignity, independence, choice and access to their local communities.

Inspectors rated both the supported living and homecare services Outstanding in all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

The CQC found that care was tailored to each person’s individual needs and that information was provided in accessible formats to help people make informed decisions about their care. Staff supported people to develop independence, with some individuals successfully moving from residential care into supported living and building the skills needed to live more independently.

Inspectors also found that people were treated with kindness and respect, with staff promoting privacy, dignity and personal choice. Training was personalised to reflect the needs of the people using the service, and leaders encouraged regular feedback from people receiving care, using it to improve services where needed.

The inspection also highlighted the provider’s focus on community inclusion, including supporting people to develop social connections through local activities and events. Inspectors found that leaders responded promptly to safety concerns and took appropriate action to reduce ongoing risks.
